SS your post on Molly's bar and the Olympics are you quoting from a reliable source or is it wishful thinking? Looking at the map from last year Molly's Bar is the perfect compromise, If so well done Womad

'Ere we got a bit of news for you...
We just cannot stick our heads in the sand, WOMAD's 30th anniversary weekend will be falling on the weekend of the Olympic opening ceremony. But fear not, (if that has been keeping you awake at night) you can see both at once! And no it isn't sorcery - it is a big screen. Molly's Campsite bar will be host to the Olympics 2012. Dash between the London Olympic Games and the super duper festival performances to your hearts content. On the other hand, if you do want to stick your head into the Olympic free sand the WOMAD arena will be just that - completely Olympic free (except, perhaps for the odd race between children, tipsy adults and wildly excited ants).

My wishfull thinking was for an additional facility, dedicated to the Olympics, including Olly's bar and screens. The reality is a reasonable compromise. The site lay out may or may not be the same as last year - we'll have to wait and see....

Yep, that's where I got the info from SS.
@ DT, I'd be up for burning chairs with the occupants sitting in them...or at least just making their bums a bit warm with a match under the seat, te he he. Chairs should be banned from the arena....and even more importantly from the front of stages. I've been saying it for years - IMO they are a trip hazard and darn well inconsiderate.

Its the hogging of the space at radio 3 that makes chairs unacceptable. 'All chairs must be accompanied by their owners, unattached wooden chairs will be taken to a large brazier and burnt' Womad geeks will be able to do jacket potatoes and marshmallows in the embers and remember the chair free days of their youth. Oh and watch the opening bits of a sporting event elsewhere in the UK.

Is someone organising a chair burning meet? I'll be up for that.

remember that bonfires are not allowed at WOMAD so may be you could just find some way to recycle them

Yup DT, SBS and C+D, I'd be up for it. Last year at R3 stage I encountered space reservers with lots of jumpers, handbags etc and their kids didn't arrive until half an hour into the act, then they promptly left!!!
Standing and skanking should be the rule. Thousands didn't buy a ticket to be excluded by the 'space reservers', tartan ruggers and territorials. No offence to tartan though C+D
This might deserve a thread of it's own.

We had a thread last year about this, bonfires are always banned, I help organise festivals and always stipulate a no fires rule, as the organiser of a huge bonfire in November I always feel guilty, but its for good reason.
No issue with chairs per se but Chair/ belongings stay with the person, if they go their clutter departs with them. Radio 3 is restricted for space
Easy rule to enforce , make it like airports at radio 3 , any unattended chairs and belongings will be removed to lost property or the olympic big screen
