To be honest, once we get there we'll have a brilliant time, make lots of new discoveries and forget about the ones we hoped would be there but aren't!
Not long now!

Totally agree DH, discovering new stuff is at the heart of it! My earlier post wasn't really a moan as such, it's just that some of the more regular Womad bands have come to mean a lot to me over the years and the line up (so far) doesn't seem to have many of them which is a bit surprising. I shall be making an extra effort this to venture forth into the unknown! I may even leave the real ale tent

Steady On...

Hmm, I'd be cautious referring to 'Robert Plant'...bear in mind he's not doing his usual stuff. It's a British-Gambian blues/rock/prog mix, with some of the most accomplished musicians in world music in the ensemble. The Sensational Shapeshifters promises, for me, to be quite special.

I agree, I'm looking forward to the Shapeshifters as a potential highlight.

Disappointed by the lack of representation from South America - what an omission! Also nothing from China? Otherwise very excited by the line-up that's there - such a variety of styles and content (apart from SA), I would have thought there was something for everyone...in spades....(and hopefully not wellies)! My list of "must-sees" already exceeds the time available!

S.C., isn't Prince Fatty part of Hollie Cook's band along with Horseman & Mutant Hi Fi? They've all performed together in the past so I'm hoping they will be there at Womad. Fingers crossed

Robert Plant will be a "British-Gambian blues/rock/prog mix"... apart from the "British-Gambian" part it doesn't sound too far removed from his "usual stuff" ;-)

Depends what you mean by his "usual stuff". He has been working with African musicians for several years and the Spaceshifters includes Justin Adams. The "prog" description is a bit worrying but Blues/Rock could describe any number of African artists. I don't think this is going to be Led Zep. Looking forward to it anyway.

I guess there will be an inevitable led zep cover in an intereting stylee..........
I'm hoding out for Kashmir.
Nice to see everyone's commitment to experience new stuff - no more talk of must sees and lists then!!
