Last years Sunday 'headliner' was Gogol Bordello and they created a real buzz and certainly had me leaving on a high. Robert Plant? Boring, boring, boring.
Thank heavens there was Boubacar Traore to send me to sleep with good vibes.

I thought last year's Sunday closing act was Gil Scott Heron, or am I thinking of the year before?

Gil Scott-Heron was 2010's Sunday headliner and was spell-binding. Sadly by the time last year's Womad came round he'd played his last gig - RIP

An absolute highlight for me. Thought the set was great, and the whole band just awesome.
Love it.

I thought it was flat too. tried to move around a bit to get warm but there was nothing to move around to really. sound was dodgy, couldn't hear Juldeh, then the sound engineer woke up and turned on his mike.
after FANTASTIC final shows like Afro Celt, this was very disappointing.

Totally agree - no more old rockers please!

It seemed to me that Mr Plant had thrown together the set just to get a slot at WOMAD... Old songs re-arranged with nothing particularly new to offer.
Having said that, I thought that he was excellent and certainly not dull. Personally I have found the last appearence by Mr Gabriel incredably dull but I suppose the 'old rocker' thing is always going to appeal to fans. I have no problem with that.
Therefore I have to disagree with the previous comments and say that I thoroughly enjoyed Robert Pant last Sunday.

I'm with you all here, Robert Plant a disappointment again, it was only the addition of Judeth Camera that encouraged me to give it another go, lasted about 3 songs. The amazing production from the Manganiyar Sensation would have been a more fitting finale it left me totally awestruck.

I really enjoyed Plant and thought his band were excellent. Justin is a GREAT guitarist and I loved the Zep stuff and Robert's reach back to the blues with Howlin' Wolf and John Mayall. A tremendous closer with "Galllows Pole" too.

I would just like to say that I thought Robert Plant was amazing. I personally think that he embodies the Womadian spirit of discovery and musical adventure. Thanks Peter (and Womad collectively) for another wonderful year!
