  Thanks for the rescue SS and Alan, that was quite an introduction to flying! The broomstick salesman was a bit grumpy though when I asked how i should sit on the broomstick. He said after seeing me fly he'd love to show me where it goes and he did! Although it did technically fit i am not convinced he is right in the way he fitted it. It wasn't like that in the instructions! Anyway luckily Alan sorted it for me. Needless to say I am looking to buy a broomstick elsewhere......Perhaps one will a Gel saddle??

  ... I think hazel bindings will be needed for the attachment of a gel saddle - perhaps Cal N Del can clarify this for you?.....

  best you use willow to attach saddles to brooms, hazel tends to chafe
