As I said before, if the licence has been issued, there shouldn't be a problem.

The police are challenging the licence and if they win their challenge then what next? Licence revoked I guess.

Wiltshire police hardly have the best track record when it comes to festivals.........

classic!

Maybe English Heritage are to blame. When you go to Stonhenge solstice the place is overun with Police many times more than needed, but if EH pay this sets a precident in the minds of Wilts Police.
Yes the Wiltshire force should be haunted by what happened back in 1985, I was close by that day; a black day for all sorts of reasons.

Giant steps are what you take...ooh arr, ooh arr...walking on the moon

WOMAD will go ahead.
- The police want it to go ahead because they will get their fee
- The Council want it to go ahead because the local area get the spill over revenue and presumably they get fees of some sort too
- WOMAD want it to go ahead because ..... well of course!
- There are no legitimate grounds for refusing a licence - there has never been any trouble at WOMAD CP
This is simply about the Police & WOMAD nogotiating a fee.
It would/should have remained a private matter (like all the other fee negotiations that happen as part of the run up to the event) but the Police thought they could put a bit of pressure on WOMAD by challenging the licence. When they review the licence, the Council may insist WOMAD use the police rather than a private security firm. If that happens WOMAD will have to pay what the police are demanding. But the two sides might reach a compromise sooner. Either way the only thing in doubt is how much WOMAD will eventually agree to pay. WOMAD will go ahead whatever the outcome.
