was a bit disappointed this year, expected some big celebration of womad's birthday, fireworks? , some big 30th sculpture? something ... i didn't find anything or see anything which celebrated at all... not sure if i just missed something but. :/ . Also where have the cool womad benches gone in the arboretum? ... i think i got my hopes up a bit because of all the hype of the 30th anniversary, i thought it was going to be the best womad yet! but it just wasn't! From the 10 years i have been going it is by far and away my fave fest, and i do love every single year! but this year wasnt as special as i would have liked :(

we thought there would be fireworks too

was a shame hey, they could have really made a thing of it! hey ho there is always the 40th and the 50th ....... maybe they will have a bit more excitement!

ture, no bubbles!

I agree actually, much as I love Womad and had a fab time this year . . . it was the same as any other Womad . . . nothing to mark it as special. x

It was WOMAD - special enough for me.

Perhaps it was paying the additonal for the glossy programme that was the real celebration (?!). I always really like it, but it would have been nice to have had something special

Don't talk to me about the programme Gurdybloke . . . that did get my goat! . . . Especially when I met a woman on Sunday who said she only paid a fiver for hers on the Friday and her friend got one for £3 on Sat!!! xxx

Programmes were really annoying - paid full whack on Thursday only to find they kept reducing them. Really annoyed me!
But like lots of you i thought they would make more of the 30th - there seemed to be such a build up pre-womad then it fizzled out when the festival actually arrived. The line up was great, not complaining - but it wasn;t special and we had thought there might have been a theme with them brinfing back bands from the last 30 years (like Drummers of Burundi) We were looking forward to the fireworks too. Don;t get me wrong, I loved WOMAD 2012 but I thought they could have made more of the anniversary!
