  I've managed to avoid camping since the festival moved from Reading but it looks as though that'll be my only option if I'm going to go next year and I'd like to make things a bit easier for mesel' being an old geezer now. I know there was a thread before on this but it's closed now. Any info'd be much appreciated. Ta!

  We were in Park & Camp for the first time this year and it made setting up and dismantling camp so much easier. There was someone there on arrival to show us our 'plot' and there was plenty of room for our 8 metre long tent, with the car about 6 foot away! We didn't get the overcrowding that you can get in normal camping. We will definitely be back there next year.

  Normal camping was fine, (if you mean that). We had no problems but it did get a bit cramped when two large tents squeezed in by us on Friday evening. All ok, except for the woman from one of said tents who we could clearly hear weeing in a bucket was spotted emptying it out next to a neighbouring tent. Dirty so-and-so, no need for that

  Well we chose Park over Meadow Park because the meadow area was at the bottom of a slight incline up to the Arena area and my sub-standard lungs would rather I avoided too much exertion! I think there were fears this year also that Meadow might be a bit stodgy if the rain hadn't stopped. Hope that helps.

  Thank you, Jax. That's really helpful. It did occur to me that Meadow Park looked to be in the place that was full of liquid mud in 2007. Also, the easier walk is exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for too. It's likely that we'd have two small tents - one for me and one for my daughter but I'm guessing that's ok as long as they fit in the specified plot size.

  Yes, the plots were marked out by the mowing of lines in the grass. Our tent was big enough to fill our plot, but our neighbours had a smaller tent and also a gazebo with sides where they had their picnic table and chairs set up. Hope to see you there next year!

  Indeed it sounds as if there'd be nice neighbours too - and as a couple of complete lightweights me and Miss McG certainly won't be disturbing the peace. Despite thinking my camping days were behind me, I'm almost looking forward to it! Must check if I can still find my tent, poles, pegs, mallets and all the rest of the easy-to-forget stuff that goes with it. It brings back memories of Reading, walking up to the loos in the wee small hours and seeing all the people up near Babylon who never seemed to sleep and seemed to be able to exist on nothing more than Red Stripe!

  Likewise! We find ourselves flagging by 11ish! We would think twice next year if it were not for the convenience of P&C. Also, the car is handy to lock valuables in!

  We booked P&C this year as we wanted to have a bit more comfort/less distance to drag the gear etc. which was just as well, as my wife's knee gave way a few months ago and she can't walk or stand for any length of time at the moment (and is still waiting to see the specialist), so it was great to have the car next to the tent, and not too far to get to the loos and water. Also we found that it wasn't too far to walk to the arena.

  Down Points: It's a bit close to Molly's Bar, so we did (try to) sleep along with whatever was on there in the late, late evening, so Mcgrooger I'd suggest taking some earplugs! Also we were looking to hang around on the Monday but were asked to pack up by 12 by a nice security man as the "event traffic" would need access in order to get to the arena (this was at 11.30 so the guy clearly had no idea about camping logistics!). Needless to say we saw no traffic by the time we left at about 3. However, apart from these I would certainly recommend it.

  By the way, don't forget spare tent pegs!
