You maybe right, though if this was the case you would have thought Kissmet & also The Mali Allstars would be in the lead. Never heard of Nioosh Band or Jahongir maybe they are big abroad, hope they don't think Womad are paying the air fairs & sorting the visas.

According to the organisers...
"The winner will perform from 12:15 - 1pm on the Charlie Gillet Stage on Saturday 28th July 2012 in front of up to 30,000 festival goers."
If bands are traveling any distance because they actually believe they're going to get that kind of exposure then Womad should definitely pay their expenses.

In the terms Womad also says..
"Winners will be responsible for their own transport to and from the venues as well as any accommodation, meals, spending money or any other additional items"

Just spoke to Kissmet, asked them why they're not already on Womad. Said he'd been speaking to Womad for about 6 years and always same answer. No go. Also said the voting system was a bit pants with lots of the kissmet fans 'like'ing the page, thinking they've voted. Has told them to go back and vote properly but the page has lots more likes than votes.
I think the voting system is easy to rig. Set up a dummy email account, then a facebook account, put a few pictures in and you're ready to roll. My daughter told me that and she's 12. Pay a kid £10 a day, they'll do hundreds, their way of working against the system. Think womad need to rethink this one...

So that's how the kids make money when they aren't at Womad picking up empty glasses? ;-)

I don't think 30,000 people at the Charlie Gillett stage is very feasible & not very likely either - if all the people voting are non Womad UK goers or children making a bit of cash. Have seen Kissmet fill a tent the size of Big Red at Beautiful Days festival, can't understand why Womad don't book them, they would fit the bill perfectly.

Bassy, what did you think of Beautiful Days? I've had missed reports but never been?

Its a really nice little festival, the music is often a bit hit and miss but its always fun

Looks like we have a late contender

Fix!
