The first time I saw the Peatbogs was at Morecambe too.
The dome has now gone, and the site where it was has been cleared. Similarly the Swimming pool that was on the same site was demolished a few years ago. Urban Splash, who renovated the Midland Hotel, want to build several rows of Appartment blocks, with shops on the ground floors, on the land.
The site where the WOMAD big top was located is now a Morrisons Store, and the fairground next to it has been demolished and is currently a wasteland. Erm, we seem to have a recurring theme here!

Thanks for the info on Morecambe, Trebor. On reflection I shouldn't have been so downbeat about Nododo - it was great fun and organised by a great drummer and good friend. A nice memory. Sadly, at least two of the band from then are no longer with us. We've had a couple of get togethers recently which inlcude 4 or 5 of us from the original band and loads of other musicians (yes... you, Retrac!). Good fun even if it is as chaotic as it ever was. Think there were 13 of us there last night. Must see if I've still got any of those old Womad/Worldbeat progs in what I laughably call my filing system.

Oh I knew it was NWW McG, but'fraid didn't see NoDoDo, but did see Johnny Kalsai, Drummers of Burundi, Fairground Attraction and especially Lancaster band 'Jamming Impossible' with Melvin on trumpet in the old rlwy station. There's still folk around these parts who, when I say we're off to Womad, they say 'oh , it's in Morecambe isn't it?'
as Homer would say "doh"

EVERYBODY in Lancashire still thinks that it's in Morecabe!!! haha

or even Morecambe! Thanks for the info Trebor.

Certainly disappointing, albeit understandable, if Gran Canaria has finished for good. Lets hope for early notice if there is something else instead.
