You're all very quiet this side of Womad!! I need the Womaddy interaction lest I get depressed about how much longer I have to wait until the next one!! So come on all!! . . . Share you best bits! xxx
The festival seemed to fly by way too quickly for me ,i was just starting too get into festival mode only to find myself packing up, i think it was cos it was so hot on thursday and my group got a bit drunk on all the cold beer and wine we drank and kinda missed a day i think. note to self for next year ,if its hot set up tent then go directly to arboretum which i have learnt is cool all the time relax and dont drink all the cold beer . the music this year didnt greatly appeal as much as other years but i expanded my musical horizons non the less the food was fantastic as always , people were great (except the campers that decided they would create a garden by using red tape to mark out a large garden area around their tents while everyone else had to camp ontop of each other in the family camping) toilets were well maintained .I really liked mollys bar and the big red tent ,the ale bar was full of quality ale, did someone promise fireworks? i didnt hear any! best musically dj yoda and the march band it was a right old festival knees up. best food, fish flaffel from the moorish gaff , loved the lights in the enchanted garden .I wish it lasted longer and i guess that says it all well done womad.
Oh cruelly dreadful. The beer was keg, the food was cheap rubbish, the music, oh dear oh dear; just invented boy bands. All that litter drunken behaviour til dawn!. No sleep due to the noise, the rain and wind on the tent. The thefts in the camp site, and the mud. Dare I mention the toilets, no best not as they were blocked. No one spoke to anyone, the sense of fear from the ex hells angels running it. :((
You get the picture?
Thankfully I woke up & found that was only a nightmare and that I had never really been to that large corporate festival where the max age was 25!
Phew, I went to Womad where none of the above applied and it was the best vibe of any Womad.
I focused some of the forum folks here with my pals from the Peter Gabriel forum to form a little campsite that worked really well. Almost a month on, still have a feel good factor and also slight guilt that comes with knowing I haven't burnt a CD of the pictures for Bloohair yet or completed my up load to Flickr.
Wow! You scared me for a minute there DT! xxx
Deffo agree, it goes way to quick . . . but I always say that . . . Womad should be 2 weeks minimum . . . I'm pretty sure I could do a month. :) xxx
yummy mummy you should spend more time in the how may more days to thread (ok it does get a bit mad at time but it make the time between WOMAD pass the little bit quicker
and in case you need a wee WOMAD boost Anda union are on late junction (radio 3) tonight a reminder from WOMAD 2011
as for this years WOMAD is was FAB, were still getting flash backs when we listen to music from this years festival
Whenever I want to go to a happy place in my mind for relaxation I visualise sitting at Womad under a blue sky with the flags fluttering above me. I am warm and exceptionally happy! Works every time!
This year ther was fabulous food, super clean loos and some pretty darn good dancing music thrown in!
Bring on 2013!
A strange WOMAD this year for me. It was only the second time that we had brought Shellovski jnr and she was looking forward to collecting glasses and earning some spending money.....Oooops. I must admit to being slightly worried that she would get fed up! However at 13 she was very mature and enjoyed the weekend and she now wishes to return next year!
We never took our daughter to WOMAD when she was younger because WOMAD is our festival and holiday and so, being selfish (but not in a horrible way of course) we always travelled with a group of adult friends.
As the years have passed however, our group of friends no longer attend the festival leaving just the Shellovski clan to fly the flag. Now, with the way that WOMAD has developed I feel more inclined to attend with the family for a pleasant weekend than with friends to party like I used to do.
All in all - a brilliant way to spend a weekend with the family.
I just had one pint on the Thursday but didn't eat anything from the food stalls until Sunday evening when I had something excellent from the Carribean cafe place.
The music was very good .....as it usually is and that is the most important angle for us. Some old favoirites mixed in with a few pleasant surprises.
