Reminds me of the old Aussie joke. Whats the differance between a jumbo jet and a pomme landing at Sydney airport? As soon as you turn the engines off on the jumbo it stop whining! Yes we Brits love a good moan but at the end of the day there is always something to enjoy.
The non musical aspects are very good and that contributes to ( for me) the best vibe of any festival. As I have said before I would welcome a wider spectrum of both music and dance , others will disagree. As Redleg says its the unexpected that gets you and non musically I've yet to explore the therapies in the Wellbeing area. I remember Gong but a gong bath?!

I agree with Waterdragon. There is a limit to how many festivals some people can afford and Womad is no longer the be-all-and-end-all of festivals. There is are wider, better and often cheaper choices out there now so for a lot of people with less cash the line-up is the decider. Sorry, but that is the case. BTW there should be no need to apologise SS, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

....and most forums have an edit facility for goodness sake. Grrrr - really p***ed off now!

Agree with DT re the non music events. One of my highlights last year was going to Khaira Arby's cookery demo. When I spoke to her the following day after she had played the main stage she seemed more pleased that i'd liked her food than that i'd enjoyed the music.
Oh and DT...Kelly says WOMAD won't be the same if you are not there.

Well, well, well . . . haven't you lot been busy!! Just when I was starting to get bored!! xxx :)
@ PD . . . Cheaper maybe, but wider? Better? Not a cats chance in hell!!!
I'm with SS . . . die hard Womader till the end . . . I would still have my early birds even if they never ever announced the line up!
All this moaning is not making me feel very Womaddy!! I think you guys may have missed the 'spirit' element!!
SuNdAnCiNg aNd JuMpiNg FoR JoY AnD WoMaDnEsSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And what's more...the Sun is out this morning!!
Let's face it, we've never been let down by the WOMAD line up, have we? Be honest.
It's special. That's fact, not opinion.
(my job her is done)

PD the price is to keep the festival middle class, don’t want common people coming ;-)

I love Womad, I love the music it brings to us from all over the world, I love its vibe and I love its diversity. But I can't say I'm overly impressed with the slight feeling of disapproval and condemnation (ie any criticism or suggestion is seen as moaning and/or whining!) sometimes exhibited on the forum if there is any abberation from the general adoration and womadfantasticisity!!!
Love & peace

Absolutely! Kissy Kissy all round, I think.
And Oops about me smelling pistake in me previous entry.

Ooops and my spelling was an aberration
Now where's that edit facility......???
