  Re police action..it seemed only really heavy at the beginning ie sniffer dogs and searching people. It occurred to me that this might well have something to do with the weekend coinciding with the opening of the Olympics and that there was likely to have been a directive to watch all potential soft targets...ie large gatherings of people closely during that weekend.

  There were sniffer dogs last year too.
  Didn't notice much difference in Police presence. The story before the event was started by Wiltshire Police as part of their negotiations.

  I didn't notice anything particulaly special to celebrate 30th Anniversary (was there a display of old photos? And a special 50% mark up on the program).

  How much did the Olympics screen cost?

  How are the free festivals in other parts of the world funded? Do the local
  authorities pay to bring people to their countries or is some of the money raised at CP used?
