Bloody Nuisance in this location. Too close to Big Red tent. I was not impressed by the motorcyclist revving up that smoky old bike which was not environmentally friendly at all whilst sitting outside the red tent, too noisy and smoky. The music bled all over the place not helped by the fact the bass on big red was appalling and people moved outside to hear properly...then could only hear funfair music. Walking under the rides was unpleasant as just missed getting splattered by someone with delicate stomach for the rides....close call.
A rethink is in order here. Good idea to have it but place it somewhere else.

Maybe so, but the Wall of Death was great, a really authentic fairground experience what with the bloke in the grubby white tuxedo, the bored looking girl taking the money, and the lads in the centre of the track eating butties while their mate did tricks 'so dangerous that he can't get insurance'!

Funfair's always been there, never heard anyone complain before . . . only nuisance for me is that when I want to see something in the Big Red my daughter see's the fair as soon as the people clear n then I'm out £20!! xxx

Best place for it imo, tucked away in the corner. If you're not looking for all the fun of the fair, like us now that the kids have grown up, then there's no need to experience it, and that's how it should be.

we love the fact the funfair had been given more space this year, we didn't have time to do the wall of death but thought it was a great idea

Keep the funfair and the excessive Bass Red tent in one side then I don't have to bother going there at all.

The funfair is XLNT, traditionally British & I love the 50's/60's music from the dodgems. The Big Red Tent is a WOMAD nightmare, just cut down the size of the PA, so that those in the tent can dig it and it doesn't spoil the show for the rest of the site.
They call me The Hunter...

We loved the fun fair.It must be one of the last, if not the last steam fairs left in the UK.The wall of death was excellent. The occasional distant rasp of the vintage motor bikes just added to the Womad atmosphere. One of the reasons we love Womad is it has something for every one.

I think that the funfair is briliant! I even won a cuddly shark this year! Seriously, I saw a programme about funfairs on the TV a few months ago and it featured Carters - It sounds as though they are the last surviving steam fair in the country, and want to try and preserve the tradition. We tried to listen to the Portico Quartet in the BRG but gave up due to the stomach-churning "booms"
