Camping is at the heart of the WOMAD Charlton Park experience for many festival goers. You'll find information here on the camping facilities at the event and some further options to bring a touch of luxury to your time in the heart of the English countryside.
We've got further information for those interested in Disabled Camping facilities and those looking for the alternative camping style, check out our Glamorous Camping Options to enhance your camping experience at Charlton Park. Stay in beautiful tipees and yurts at Hearthworks or get your own brightly coloured 'hobbit home' (as they like to be called) with Podpads.
(Information on further camping options will be added very soon.)
If you prefer to stay outside of the festival site then please head to VisitWiltshire for accommodation options in the surrounding area.
Family Camping The Family Camping area is within the main campsite - please ask stewards for directions on arrival.
Caravans, Campervans & other Live-In Vehicles You will need to purchase a Campervan Ticket if you plan to stay in a sleep-in vehicle or caravan.
Guidelines for the campervan field. If your vehicle does not adhere to these rules you will not be allowed access into the campervan/caravan field.
The Campervan Ticket charge is to help cover the costs of fire stewarding this separate area and ensuring that Health & Safety guidelines with regard to petrol containing vehicles are followed.
From Car Park to camping spot In common with all other major festivals and in order to comply with Health and Safety regulations, cars and tents will be separated. However, the campsite layout is designed specifically so that you should be able to park within a reasonable distance of your camping spot, but please bear in mind that the actual distance cannot be absolutely guaranteed.
Be considerate with space Please be considerate when pitching your tent. We receive many complaints about groups of campers who deliberately arrange their tents, gazebos and wind-breaks to take up the maximum possible amount of space for their own group. Please bear in mind that if people pitch inconsiderately then space for others is severely restricted.
Toilets There are plenty of toilets on site, all emptied and cleaned regularly over the weekend by a dedicated hygiene team.
Showers There will be a 48-head hot shower unit, which will be attended to regularly by a dedicated hygiene team. We are asking people to use eco-friendly products at the festival to protect the local wildlife and ecosystems.
Water There will be plenty of drinking water points on the campsite, each with a cluster of taps. We recommend that you bring supplies of bottled drinking water with you for convenience.
Power There are no power points available in the main camping areas or the Campervan field.
Fires Because of the risk of fires spreading out of control, OPEN FIRES ARE BANNED everywhere on site. Please familiarise yourself with Fire Exits and Fire Towers.
Noise. No sound systems or amplified music allowed on site. Those who disregard this regulation will have their equipment confiscated. Drumming: We know this is a WOMAD festival where drumming is part of the entertainment but please do not drum on the campsite between 8pm and 8am. We have more complaints from campers and local residents about drumming than any other issue. Please take this seriously, our licence depends on it. We reserve the right to ask persistent drummers to leave the festival site.
Crime Prevention Advice We recomend you follow the Police Safety advice at WOMAD 2010
Campers Lock-Up This is the place to leave any valuables that you don't want to leave in your tent or car or carry around. Please check with Lock-Up staff or at the Info Tent for opening times. Items can be left or collected between these times only. Mark items with your telephone number/postcode/house number if possible.
In order to guarantee a camping space in the disabled camping area you must pre book by returning the registration form to us.
Bringing Campervans into Disabled Camping We understand that some people would be unable to attend the festival without the use of their caravan/campervan. So that we can accommodate those people who it is essential for, we do ask people to think quite carefully about their needs before applying for a space.
There is also a general public camper and caravan field.
Toilets & Showers There are disabled toilets within disabled camping are and at locations throughout the arena.
Adapted showers will be available within the disabled camping area.
General Assistance at the Festival At the disabled campsite the staff can advise you of specific arrangements on site, are in radio contact with other staff and will be your main point of contact at the festival.
Park and Camp A Park and Camp ticket will allow you to park one car within 10 metres of your tent. All persons in the car must hold a valid weekend ticket and a Thursday Camping ticket per person if using the site on Thursday 22 July.
These camping options are designed to make your weekend hassle free, with a hint of the wonderfully bizarre. Each individual camping option will be situated close to the festival arena. It is a secure area designated to only those staying there and has its own posh loos and showers. As an added bonus they will also be situated close to the healing area, offering these camping grounds a peaceful and relaxed ambience, perfect for getting away from the hurley burley of the festival and enabling a refreshing nights sleep.
