Tropical-edged, floaty folk-pop
Normally, when a band sets about the task of succinctly describing their sound in just a few words, they're wildly optimistic in their self-appraisal. But when London-based five-piece Vadoinmessico settled upon "beautiful, nostalgic, psychedelic folk-pop" as their calling card, they got it absolutely spot-on. Hailing from exotic locales across the globe (although the drummer's from Exeter), their deeply melodic, deeply danceable songs are undeniably a force for good - for both your ears and your limbs. Having supported Anna Calvi and Crystal Castles, and been lauded by Radio 1 taste-maker Huw Stephens, Vadoinmessico have been favourably likened to Animal Collective and Arcade Fire. Certainly their debut single Pepita, Queen Of The Animals shares the keen vocals, chiming guitars and tropical motifs of that first Vampire Weekend album. Not only are Vadoinmessico ones to watch for the indeterminate time period known as The Future, they're also very much ones to watch this particular weekend.
