Widely regarded as the best bass player in Cuba, (and he comes from a clan of over 100 double bass players) 'Cachaito' came to mainstream prominence when featured in the hugely popular Buena Vista Social Club project. Music was everything in the Lopez home and almost as soon as he could walk and talk, Cachaito was accompanying his father, the great Orestes Lopez to rehearsals and jam sessions with the heroes of Cuba‚s musical heyday. The heartbeat of any band he plays in, his range and skills are astonishing. He truly proves that while sounds and styles may evolve, this master musician is more than able to move his grooves into the present day.
