Here's a message for anyone who thought themselves remotely capable on the guitar: prepare to be humbled. Very humbled. For Javier Conde, this floppy-fringed flamenco guitarist of just 21 summers, is simply extraordinary. Stand within earshot of this true virtuoso and your first instinct will be to look for the other two players who MUST be accompanying him, so hard and fast does the music come. And when you can't find his pals, you'll then try to count his fingers to make sure he's not in possession of several digits more than us mere mortals. But, of course, this is an impossible task as Javier's hands are a blur, fluttering at impossible speed across the strings. But it's not all about mere technical mastery; a Javier Conde performance is also shot through with soul and passion, and this young man has both in spades. The fiercely guarded flamenco tradition is in safe hands for at least another generation.
