'Big in Bath' may not sound impressive, especially if you come from Alaska, but it doesn't really have to because, round these 'ere parts, everyone and their maiden auntie is just going on and on about how brilliant Headbound are. Chad Dacey, Barry B and Big Louie pulled themselves up by the jockstraps after the demise of their former outfit Hannover, also big in Bath, to from Headbound as a vehicle for their considerable Djing, remixing and production skills. Faced with the not inconsiderable task of turning their love of hip hop, acid jazz, Fun Loving Criminals, Stereo MCs, Gil Scott Heron and sampled esoterica into some kind of coherent lovable sound, the trio got to work and soon produced the goods.Demo of the month in MixMag and an invitation to nob with showbiz luvvies at Midem in Cannes followed. With such early coups and successes only two outstanding items remained on the Headbound agenda; first, how to translate their ornery sounds into an effective live show and second how to convince some cloth-eared, boy-band obsessed record label A&R man to sign them to six-figure-with-hot-tub-and-Shogun-jeep-thrown-in record deal.
