2001 Biography:If you think that going to see a cover band isn’t reason enough to get out of bed then you would be sorely mistaken. Dynamo’s Rhythm Aces are lovers of music, all music, from 1940s and ‘50s swing, R&B and Hillbilly to The Smiths, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Motorhead. They cover songs with deep love and perform them with verve and dazzling instrumental know-how. Daniel (guitar/piano), Big Bill (double bass and vocals) and Pete (drums) have this overriding theory that if you strip all songs in the history of pop down to their basics, they’re all simple three-chord R&B tunes. With this in mind, it’s a very short step to clothing numbers by The Beastie Boys in a kind of manic swing out groove that’ll have you hopping from the rafters. Biography by Andy Morgan, June 2001
